Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas this year...we are so blessed. I posted a slideshow of some pics. It starts with Safety Town. This is a little town at Frisco's fire dept. that is set up for kids to learn about all aspects of safety, it is very neat, with little buildings, roads, they have red lights and even a toll way. The next pictures are Christmas morning at Nanny and Pop Pops house, where Macey opened most of her presents. That evening we went to the Yorks to spend the night. The kids decorated some cookies and ate way too much icing. Friday morning we went to Nana and Grandad's for the Donegan Christmas. My dad bought an ATV for the grandkids...very cool. Thank goodness you can adjust the speed so it will only go so fast, and there is a cord at the back you can pull to kill the engine if needed. I'm sure by summer they will be cruising all over at faster speeds.

Putting up the tree.

We put up the tree a couple of weeks ago, and this is a picture I was trying to take of Macey while hanging ornaments, but I couldn't get an action shot. Macey has become such a poser (sp?). She loves to have her picture taken, but is mostly over dramatic with the way she poses. It's hard sometimes to just get a simple picture of her smiling.

Last night we went to a Christmas concert at our church, and on the way I told her she is going to 'big' church and has to act like a big girl, and no talking. She told me when they sing a sad song she will cry quietly. She is still a very emotional girl, but we did make it thru the concert without any tears. While we were waiting for it to start, the orchestra was playing and Macey looked at me and said 'Mommy, God is here'.

Field Trip

Macey's class had a field trip today to see Santa Claus. I was off work, so I went along. There were 14 kids, and I don't know why in the world someone would want to be a pre-K teacher. I was exhausted by the time it was over. We boarded the buses and headed over to the mall in the 26 degree weather. The kids first set in Santa's lap (Macey calls him Ho Ho). This was Macey's first time...I know I'm an awful mom for never taking her! (he kind of freaks me out). She told Ho Ho she wanted a Hanna Montana Beach House, I haven't yet figured out what she's talking about, I think she wants a doll house, and this is what she is calling it. Then they rode this cute little train; Macey was in a car with all boys, and they were getting yelled at by the old lady for standing up. Then they played in the kid area, and then had lunch at Mcdonalds and ice cream from Chick fil a. Then it was finally over, and we headed back to school. Here's a few pictures from today.

'Conversations' with Macey

Today we were driving thru The Colony, and Macey pointed to something, and I told her it was a water tower, and she said 'No Mommy, that's were Daddy played football' (the stadium is behind the water towers, so she was correct); but then she goes on to say 'Mommy you are not going to start Kindergarten because you can't remember things.'

I woke Macey from her nap and she tells me while she is half asleep 'I'm getting my adult teeth because my kid teeth are falling out'.

We put up our tree last night, and Macey was so excited, and such a big help. She was just bouncing off the walls telling us she is so excited for Christmas. In all her excitement she says 'Mommy I'm being nice to you', I tell her that's great, and she should be nice to me more often. Ten minutes goes by and she says 'Mommy I've been nice to you for a very long time'.

Today on our way home from the gym, I was talking to Macey about being nice to everyone, and reminded her the God is always watching us (this is what their lesson was about in Sunday school this week). Macey then asks me if God can see inside buildings, and when I told her that He could, she had an 'uh oh' look on her face.

Honesty

I turned 32 on Monday, and Macey took this day to fill me in on a couple things that I didn't know. First I was shopping for a new pair of shoes, and after the 3rd try of them not having my size, I told her I was mad because they didn't have my size in anything. She told me 'Mommy your feet are just too big'. (she is right they are a size 10 or 11). To top off the compliments that day, later that night out of the blue she says 'Mommy your hair is turning white'. Kids are so darn honest.

I took the picture below of Macey and Caitlin, it was about 79 degrees that day, but she insisted on wearing the earmuffs.

Macey's artwork

Some recent drawings...the first one is a book she made at school, it has several pages of the gifts she would give her goat, but I only scanned the front page...also a picture of a baby in a basket, and a butterfly; and also a drawing of our family.

Dallas Arboretum

We went to the Arboretum this past Saturday. It was so crowded and felt more like summer than fall...it was all I could do to keep Macey's shirt on her...when she gets hot all modesty goes out the window. Caitlin just 'chilled' with Nana most the time, and her other cousins ran off energy. Me and Kristi just took pics (see slideshow below).
